New Years came really fast this year. I spent the couple days prior to it making a slideshow of my old youthgroup's pictures of 2005 for my youthpastor. It was to be shown at the junior high and highschool's New Years celebration at the church that night.
The morning of the 31st, I went to breakfast with a friend from church, who also happens to be my youthpastor's wife - she is many many months pregnant and it was fun to see her, especially after being away since the summer. We went to our usual restaurant downtown, that I can see rapidly becoming a tradition for us, or at least I hope so...! :) It was great to talk, catch up, and get some good advice!
Next I headed over to one of my sisters' apartments in Kirkland. My oldest sister, who lives in Shoreline now, met us there too and we had a sister hang out time. It was the first time I had seen my oldest sister, the newlywed, "Mrs. Oak" from below, without her husband, since the wedding. It was so nice to just have the three of us there, being girls, and laughing together again!
I rushed back to my church - or at least through rush hour, and got there to help set up for the youthgroup's party. I ended up chopping several unions for the hot dog bar because it was the most detested job in the kitchen and because I was the only one who could do it without sobbing to death. I must say that my eyes stung for days!!! Everyone had fun though, and the night went well, except for the projector not working to show the slideshow. But, such is life, and technology... unpredictable. So I brought in the New Year with a bunch of youthgroup kids, and no family. It was a little disapointing to not be with my family, who was all together that night, but I was still with something that I care very much about - the youthgroup - and it was worth it, making it a successful night for them.

What I really want to know is how you chop unions. We missed you at the family party.
